Launch of an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women’s Health
The Daisy Network were honoured to attend the launch event of an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Women’s Health at Westminster on Wednesday.
The group has been set up by Paula Sheriff MP and aims to empower women to ensure they they can make an informed choice about the best treatment for them and that they are treated with dignity and respect.
The event was attended by charities such as Wellbeing of Women, Endometreosis UK and Verity PCOS and featured inspirational speeches from Katie Piper, Angela Rippon OBE, Caroline Criado-Perez OBE and Dr Gina Radford, Deputy Chief Medical Officer.
Dr Gina Radford focused on menopause; highlighting that “women’s problems are not problems, they are women’s needs. 51% of the population will go through the menopause at some point and I should not apologise for talking about women’s health.”
The group will focus on a variety of women’s health issues such as screening programmes, women’s mental heath and improving access to women’s health services for minority communities.
The Daisy Network are very pleased to be a stakeholder of this group and aim to ensure that the voices of women with Premature Ovarian Insufficiency are heard and discussed.
